Eight Months

Getting so big.

Always moving.

Big girl crawling.

Love her.

8 Months

Weight: 20 pounds

Height: 28 inches

Sleep: She’s a great sleeper. She typically sleeps 10-11 hours every night. When we are home during the day, she typically naps pretty well, but doesn’t like taking naps at day care.

Size/Diaper: She’s in 6-9 month clothing and size 3 diapers. I took her to day care one day in her pjs and was going to change her there. I grabbed an outfit out of her diaper bag and realized ALL of the clothes I had for her were 3-6 months. So, she wore 3-6 months clothes that day, but I made sure to get larger sizes the next day.

Diet: My milk dried up, so she’s only drinking formula now. We’ve given her water occasionally, but she’s not a huge fan yet. We bought some sippy cups, so we’ll try those soon. She’s eating all kinds of food – fruits, veggies, yogurt, and cereal. We think that eggs give her diaper rash, so we haven’t been feeding her those, but other than that, she seems to like everything else. We will probably add puffs and other small whole foods.

Baby Gear Love: We just bought a playpen. Holy moly, this girl can move, so it’s so nice to have her contained so that we can actually get something done.

Milestones/Firsts: She CRAWLED! She’s been army crawling/scooting on her belly for a while now, but she actually crawled on her 8 month birthday. She had been able to get up on her hands and knees, but couldn’t figure out how to go anywhere. Then one day, I turn around, and she’s crawling. Two days later, she pulled herself up to standing. Time to lower the crib mattress.

Likes/Dislikes: She loves Ace, our dog. She thinks he’s great, and loves to pet him. She loves to eat, and gets excited for her bottle and food. She loves her Daddy, and saying “Dada.”
She doesn’t really like taking naps, and she’s not a fan of being left alone.

Things I don’t want to forget: How she loves to go for Ace’s basket of toys. The way she learned so quickly how to crawl and sit herself up – and then pull herself up. How she loves to grab for anything that does not below to her – glasses, phones, pens, straws – pretty much everything. The way her and Chris “say hi.” Chris will say hi and she’ll grunt back at him, and they’ll repeat it 10+ times. It’s as if she’s really saying hi. The way she smiles/giggles every time we walk past her picture in the hallway. She smiles at the baby in the picture and reaches for the frame. The way she scrunches up her nose, sticks out her tongue, and huffs through her nose because she likes the sound it makes. Then smiles when mommy and daddy do it back.
